1. What advice would you give someone starting a business?
"Well, when we started we were a very, very small growing company and my key to success in those days was flexibility and timing in the marketplace. As our company has grown, it has become very imperative to surround yourself with key people and it is now the key people that make Dunavant Enterprises a success, not Billy Dunavant. In the earlier days the shoe was on the other foot."

2. Why is Memphis good for entrepreneurs?
"In the early days, being located in Memphis, Tennessee was a tremendous asset for Billy Dunavant and Dunavant Enterprises because we were in the heart of the cotton belt and most of the growth from the cotton industry in those days came from this area. Now as technology has changed the business and we have become very international in scope it is still critical for us to be in a key cotton city and Memphis houses all of the major, major cotton merchants in the world. The national headquarters are here in Memphis."
